Thread
- Overview & *Tips*
For
appliqué, nothing is better than silk thread. It is a dream
to work with on cottons as well as ribbon. The fibers are
very long which adds strength and flexibility to the thread.
The colors are your preference. I know several folks that
use basic neutral colors of silk thread for all of their work.
I have a tendency to match the thread to the fabric or ribbon
being appliqued. The silk thread seams to blend into the ribbon
and disappear - while the cotton thread is more noticeable.
*Tips*
- When
threading your needle - remember thread has a nap. If the
fibers split apart when threading your needle (especially
with a milliner needle), switch thread ends and you may
have better luck.

there is a special color that you need, send a swatch of the
fabric you want to match. If the color needs to be special ordered
