Trims
and Goodies
Look
in Yarn and Needlepoint stores and magazines for interesting
fibers to add to your quilts. I have made nests from yarn
and stamens with velour thread. I have used interesting fibers
"couched" into place to form initials, braids and tendrils.

It
took me several years to work up the courage to use an
indelible ink pen on my quilts. Now I wonder why I waited.
I am the most impressed with Pigma Ink pens from Sakura.
The control of the ink flow is outstanding allowing very
fine tips with excellent results. The variety in color
and thickness is terrific. The first humming bird eye
I worked on took me hours. I used black ultra suede and
with silk thread did a satin stitch around the edge several
times to outline the eye. The next eye, took 5 minutes.
I used a pale gray ultra suede, stitched around the outside
edge, and drew a black circle in the center.

Beads
have also worked their way into our quilts. Beaded edges
of bows or flowers add shimmer and elegance. There are
also bead flowers and leaves available that will also
add a new dimension to your finished piece.
